　　That's because it really is beautiful beyond words.

　　When I went to the Swiss Alps, back in 2008, I stayed in a tiny little village called Lauterbrunnen.

　　Lauterbrunnen is in the valley at the foot of the mountains. It's a sleepy little town full of charming wooden cabins and surrounded by sheer cliffs and waterfalls. It's as peaceful as you could ever imagine.

　　You can get there by taking a train from the nearest town, Interlaken. It's one of the most scenic train rides I've ever been on.

　　Lauterbrunnen is a great base for exploring the Swiss Alps. You don't need a guided tour, or even a guide. Just get some maps and you're right to go.

　　There are many hiking trails to choose from and all are well signposted.

　　Or if you don't feel like walking, you can take the cable cars or little trains.

　　You can even get the train to the top of one of the highest mountains in Europe, Jungfrau. There, you can see snow all year round.

　　But for most places, I recommend that you walk. There are many easy hikes and it's the best way to experience the beauty of the place.

　　In particular, make sure you visit the hidden little village of Grimmelwald. I won't say much about it, except that it's like a place out of a fairytale.
